
Datuk Seri Wong Siew Hai
Independent Non-Executive Director
Datuk Seri Wong Siew Hai has 29 years of working experience in the electronics industry. He served Intel for most of his illustrious career and retired from the company after 27 years of service as Vice President of Technology and Manufacturing Group (TMG) and General Manager of Assembly and Test Manufacturing (ATM), responsible for all assembly test factories worldwide. He also served as the Vice President and Managing Director of Dell’s Asia Pacific Customer Centre for approximately 2 years.
He continues his involvement in the electronics industry as the Chairman of MAEI (Malaysian American Electronics Industry) and Chairman of the E&E Productivity Nexus (EEPN). He is a Board member of the Penang Tech Centre Bhd and Penang Science Cluster Bhd. With the full support of the Penang State Government, he pioneered the set up of Tech Dome Penang, the first science discovery centre in the state to inspire children to pursue Science and Engineering fields. He was a coach in the Cradle Growth Program (CGP) for SMEs. He served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) for 12 years and chaired its Audit Committee. He is a member of Pemudah, a special task force comprising of public and private sector to address public delivery effectiveness and to improve Malaysia’s competitiveness. He was also a committee member of IMP3 in 2004, contributing to Malaysia’s Industrial Master Plan.
He is a regular speaker at both international and national conferences, most recently co-organising the E&E Forum with MITI. He has also published articles on the E&E industry in the media and magazines.
In Education, he is a member of the Board of Governor of KDU and was appointed as an Adjunct Professor of Multimedia University (MMU) and as a trustee of Yayasan Universiti Multimedia (YUM). He serves as a member of the Management Board of the Institute for Research and Innovation of Wawasan Open University since 2011. He has been a Board member of Aik Hua Primary School, Penang since 2010. In April 2018, he was appointed to the Board of Governor of MTT Learning Academy. From 2001 to 2006, he was a member of the Board of Directors of Kolej Universiti Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn.
He was awarded the ASEAN Outstanding Engineering Achievement Award by the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations in 2015, in recognition of his contributions which greatly impacted the country.
In Charity, he is a Vice President of the Penang Welfare Association for Mentally Retarded Children and Charter President of Kiwanis Club of Penang Central.
Dato’ Seri Wong obtained his BSc in Mechanical Engineering from University of Leeds, England and a MSc in Management Science from Imperial College, University of London, England. He also achieved an Outstanding Award in the Management Development Program under Asian Institute of Management, Philippines.
