Datuk Seri Wong Siew Hai has 29 years of working experience in the electronics industry. He served Intel for most of his illustrious career and retired from the company after 27 years of service as Vice President of Technology and Manufacturing Group (TMG) and General Manager of Assembly and Test Manufacturing (ATM), responsible for all assembly test factories worldwide. He also served as the Vice President and Managing Director of Dell’s Asia Pacific Customer Centre for 2 years.
Datuk Seri Wong is a prominent figure in the electronics industry, serving as Chairman of MAEI and E&E Productivity Nexus. He is also a board member of Penang Tech Centre Bhd and Penang Science Cluster Bhd. He initiated Tech Dome Penang, the first science discovery centre in the state, with the support of the Penang State Government. He has also served as a coach in the Cradle Growth Program for SMEs, served on the Board of Directors of the Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) for 12 years, and chaired its Audit Committee. He is also a member of Pemudah, a task force aimed at improving public delivery effectiveness and Malaysia’s competitiveness.
He is also a frequent speaker at conferences and has published articles on the E&E industry. He is a member of the Board of Governor of KDU, Adjunct Professor of Multimedia University, and trustee of Yayasan Universiti Multimedia. He has also served on the Management Board of the Institute for Research and Innovation of Wawasan Open University, Aik Hua Primary School, Penang, and MTT Learning Academy. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Kolej Universiti Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn from 2001 to 2006.
Dato’ Seri Wong was awarded the ASEAN Outstanding Engineering Achievement Award in 2015 for his significant contributions and impact. He is also a Vice President of the Penang Welfare Association for Mentally Retarded Children and the Charter President of Kiwanis Club of Penang Central. Datuk Seri Wong holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Leeds and an MSc in Management Science from Imperial College, University of London. He also achieved an Outstanding Award in the Management Development Program under Asian Institute of Management, Philippines.
He chairs the Board Nomination & Remuneration Committee. He is also a member of the Board Procurement Committee & the Board Audit Committee of MAVCAP.
