Travis Chang

Investment Manager

Travis joined MAVCAP in July 08, having garnered diverse experience in sales management, entrepreneurial venture, and SME lending risk management in the last 7 years.

Prior to joining MAVCAP, Travis worked for the Standard Chartered Bank of Malaysia-initially in sales force management and subsequently in Credit risk management. There, he acted as the Deputy Head of Sales to promote a range of banking products and created a network of peers and clienteles. Within the same business unit, he later diversified his skill set towards credit risk management to essentially identify, measure, and price for the various risks associated with the underlying loan portfolio. Here, exposure analysis considers various business, industry, operational, and financial risks of the SMEs. Travis had championed a variety of analytics and operational improvement projects to undercut underwriting turnaround time, enhance approval rate, facilitate change management, coordinate organizational & strategic restructurings, and implement an integrated workflow application system-in which stakeholders training, participation, and acceptance were critical to success.

An earlier opportunity to setup and run a software marketing outfit also afforded the hands-on experience in a start-up, of which the skill set to build a business was necessary-as opposed to one of managing a business. The process presented numerous challenges that will serve to build on his experience and add value to the investments he manages today at MAVCAP.

Travis obtained his MBA in Venture Capital Management from the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. His undergraduate years were spent in the United States at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, where he received his degree in Economics.

In his spare time, he indulges in tennis, deep-sea fishing, or Aikido. His literary interest includes various sources on marketing strategy, finance management, and quantitative risk & statistical applications.
