Theresa Chong joined MAVCAP in 2008 as Investment Manager, focusing on investments in the areas of IT. Prior to MAVCAP, Theresa worked with Mesiniaga Berhad as a Solutions Manager focusing on Project Management & Solutions Marketing, and Business Development for Software Infrastructure where she was instrumental in delivering several key projects. On top of that, she gained vast experience while working with an Engineering & Consulting Firm in New York City as a Business Development Manager, responsible in the entire business development and marketing strategies, and business restructuring with integration of IT tools. Previously, Theresa worked with Avnet (M) Bhd, a Fortune 500 technology distribution company as a Business Development Manager where she led new partners and alliances development for the entire software division. She has worked closely with IBM and Symantec on country level marketing and business development strategies as well as new and key partners alliances in Malaysia. She started her career with The Star Publications Bhd and was there for approximately 4 years, specializing in creations and engineering of new multimedia portal and programming for StarOnline. In addition, she implemented a web analytical tool for StarOnline website to study and to analyze the entire web traffic and subsequently to generate web report, which is used as the online marketing tool.
During her tertiary education, Theresa was twice the Star Education Fund Scholarship recipient, in pursuing her Diploma in Computer Science, University Putra Malaysia (UPM), and BSc (Hons) in Computing & Information System, University of Lincoln, UK. She earned a First Class Honors in her BSc. Degree and the Valedictorian of year 2002/03, the best overall student in FIMT school and was awarded a scholarship from University of Lincoln, UK.
Theresa is passionate about putting her unique and diverse experience in business development and management, technical experience, sales and marketing and ICT network into helping new entrepreneurs to succeed and in commercializing new technologies for the enhancement of the IT industry in Malaysia.
